FedEx on Friday received the first of 500 electric delivery trucks from BrightDrop, the newly formed EV unit of General Motors. It’s a moment both companies call a “tipping point” for EVs for package delivery and logistics. While only a small part of the FedEx Express fleet of 87,000 vehicles, the Brightdrop EV600 trucks represent a big commitment to sustainability for the global carrier as it aims to buy only electric delivery vehicles after 2025 and electrify its entire delivery fleet by 2040. General Motors is beginning to ship its GMC Hummer EV pickup to customers, marking a major milestone for the automaker and its next-generation electric vehicles. “Spider-Man: No Way Home” shattered pandemic box office records this weekend, opening with an estimated $253 million in ticket sales. Chinese electric car company Nio revealed Saturday a new sedan and custom augmented reality (AR) glasses that reduce the need for in-car screens. Augmented reality is a technology for imposing digital images over the real, physical world. For cars, the tech can let drivers keep their eyes on the road without having to glance down at a dashboard. Nio said it partnered with Chinese augmented reality start-up Nreal for the AR glasses that go with its new sedan, the ET5.
