શિક્ષક દિન:
શિક્ષક દિન વિશ્વમાં શિક્ષકોના માનમાં ઉજવવામાં આવતો દિવસ છે, જે ૫ ઓક્ટોબરના રોજ વિશ્વ શિક્ષક દિન તરીકે મનાવાય છે. ભારતમાં શિક્ષક દિન દર વર્ષની ૫ સપ્ટેમ્બરના રોજ મનાવવામાં આવે છે. આ દિવસ ભારતના ભૂતપૂર્વ રાષ્ટ્રપતિ ડૉ. સર્વપલ્લી રાધાકૃષ્ણનનો જન્મદિવસ છે, જેને તેમની યાદમાં ભારતમાં શિક્ષક દિન તરીકે ઘોષિત કરવામાં આવ્યો છે.
ડૉ. સર્વપલ્લી રાધાકૃષ્ણન રાષ્ટ્રપતિ બનતા પહેલાં એમની કારકિર્દીમાં સૌપ્રથમ ચેન્નઈની મદ્રાસ પ્રેસિડેન્સી કોલેજમાં તત્ત્વજ્ઞાન વિષયના શિક્ષક તરીકે નિમણૂક પામ્યા હતાં. ભારતના બીજા રાષ્ટ્રપતિ સર્વપલ્લી રાધાકૃષ્ણનની જન્મ તારીખ 5 સપ્ટેમ્બર, 1888 થી 1962થી શિક્ષક દિવસ તરીકે ઉજવવામાં આવે છે. આ દિવસે શિક્ષકો અને વિદ્યાર્થીઓ રાબેતા મુજબ શાળાએ રિપોર્ટ કરે છે, પરંતુ સામાન્ય પ્રવૃત્તિઓ અને વર્ગોની જગ્યાએ ઉજવણી, આભાર અને સ્મરણની પ્રવૃત્તિઓ કરવામાં આવે છે. કેટલીક શાળાઓમાં વરિષ્ઠ વિદ્યાર્થીઓ શિક્ષકોની પ્રશંસા કરવા માટે શિક્ષણની જવાબદારી લે છે.
