In tonight's episode, I read an article called Achieving Mindfulness in Activism by Hannah Bae, published on ChoiceWords Blog on Jan 24, 2020. I explore this concept as an introduction, and share my personal thoughts and feelings about it. We cannot underestimate the power of gentleness- some of the greatest shifts happen in microsizes and ripple out- I think this is often overlooked. I would like to explore the power of mindfulness and meditation in creating lasting, true social change...more in future episodes.. I hope that this article and my thoughts help you feel more understood, and more self-compassionate, more gentle and forgiving with yourself, for I understand the struggle of feeling like we aren't doing enough or that feeling sad is "not allowed" (for us) when there is "so much worse out there in the world." Self compassion and self care must take precedence in order to truly show up and give back to the world- we can't change when we're burnt out, or depressed. We must take care of ourselves, in order to help others. This is what mindfulness helps us with. 🙏🏼 Thank you for listening.
