Hello and welcome to Cabin Boy Minute: Minute 10!

In this momentous episode Nathanial continues to wander through Backtown until he meets the old salt (Earl Hofert/David Letterman). We note additional residents of Backtown and their impact on our perception of time, take a close look at the general store (they have fudgesicles!), learn a bit about sock monkeys, as well as a bit about Mr. Letterman. We discuss the impact of Letterman’s performance on the popularity and perpetuation of Cabin Boy, and the emotional sacrifice made by Resnick.

We then answer the questions of who wins the scene, who is most embarrassed, what would make the scene more palatable, calculate GPM, decide on funny/not funny, relate the scene to our fool’s journey and ponder whether familiarity breeds respect or contempt.

You can watch David Letterman and a parade of mid-90’s celebrities spoof his acting at the 67th Academy Awards here:  https://youtu.be/AH46OAmKNCw
