Hello and welcome to Cabin Boy Minute: Minute 9!
In minute 9 Nathanial finds his accidental way to Backtown, not the Golden Mist Seaport that he is searching for. We meet a contemptuous cow, learn a bit about cinematography (reverse shots and process shots), opine on Resnick’s relationship with the film crew, discuss the buildings and denizens of Backtown, their interaction with Nathanial and wonder if our minds have been screwed.
In our post-minute dialogue, we figure out who wins the scene, who is most embarrassed, what would make the scene more palatable and how Tim Burton may have contributed, calculate GPM, determine funny/not funny, identify celebrity replacements and relate the scene to the establishing quote. Our ponderings take us through musing about the greater Cabin Boy world, what lurks in the heart of Nathanial, the caste system, and Nathanial’s self-stratification as compared to his fellow man. While our protagonist may be terrible, we think that you are wonderful, dear listeners.
