Description

In 2004, a little sci-fi film named Avatar (not *that* one) was produced and released in Singapore — with its roots in cyberpunk and 90s cheese, it remains a rarely-seen oddity in local film. This month, Asian Film Archive is bringing it back to screens as part of State of Motion 2021, focusing on Southeast Asian sci-fi.

Listen in to AFA's Viknesh and Kay Wee as they talk about the programme, along with their highlights this month — which includes one of Japan's first all-colour samurai films, and an Iranian treasure remastered to 4K.
