God's promises often require our participation to bring them to fulfillment. Not because God couldn't do it all on His own, but because He wants us to feel a sense of ownership and responsibility. Caleb knew God had promised to give him an inheritance in the Promised Land. Though he had to wait 45 years for it to be fulfilled, Caleb held onto that promise; and when Joshua led the people into the Promised Land, Caleb did his part by claiming the portion allotted to him.
