Description

In 1990 promoter Steve Rudolph reopened the Chilton Speedway, a 1/4 mile dirt bullring located at the Calumet County Fairgrounds.

Rudolph had one class and one class only - the Grand Nationals. Rudolph saw the car as a more affordable weekly division headliner compared to the more costly late models or sprint cars at that time.

Mike Randerson talks about the early 1990's and the explosion of this new division which also was the precursor of the Mid American stock car series on pavement. Good stuff here! Give it a listen!
