Pastor John Keating
Today we will delve into:
* What drove Jesus to live as He did?
* What was His purpose?
* How would we view His legacy?
* Does that have to do with our legacy?
Luke 4:16-21 (NLT)
* This is the Legacy of Jesus: He was obedient to what God’s will for Him!
Have you ever noticed the difference in how people are described?
When you want to know about someone who is alive you often ask: what do they do? But when they have passed away, we ask: what did they do? This answer often is more personal and direct.
What is your legacy? What did you do with the time you were given?
Psalm 71:17-18 (NLT)
* Legacy requires action…No one is remembered for being passive or lazy. Legends in history books were people of action, whether good or bad. Legacies that are righteous require surrender.
* God’s request of Jesus was a call to sacrifice Himself, and if God is willing to ask His only Son Jesus to sacrifice Himself for others, God is not hesitant to ask you to sacrifice.
Mark 8:34 (NLT)
* Being concerned for others makes you feel good while you’re seated…
* James 1:23 (NLT)
* When it comes to doing it, we come up with all kinds of reasons!
* What are we really spending our time doing? Are we fulfilling God’s call, or will we someday have to explain to God why our earthly legacy was laziness?
I want to encourage you today to leave a legacy of God’s calling!
Philippians 4:7 (NLT)
* When you serve the Lord, He brings an inner peace and sense of worth you can’t find anywhere else.
