Pastor Dale Benson
James 2: 14-17 (NLT)
- Dale's Upward Illustration:
- I can say I believe in Upward. How am I demonstrating that I believe in Upward?
- Faith, without works, is dead.
- Faith, when combined with works, brings life.
- (Not just to the person the work is performed through).
James 2: 18-20 (NLT)
- Faith, without deeds, is useless.
- Faith, with deeds, is useful.
James 2:21-26 (NLT)
- Our actions can be the breath of life to faith.
- This passage has always lit me up (in a good way), and that was when I viewed it in the negative. I would always think that if I was not living out my faith with good works, I was a dead Christian. But a simple change of perspective has caused me to realize that when I live out my faith through my actions…
- I am moving toward life. Toward fulfillment. Toward purpose.
- When we volunteer for Upward, our faith breathes life into us and into others.
- When we volunteer at Jordan’s Crossing, The Refuge, Covering, Lower Lights or at our church’s school, our faith can breathe life into others.
- When we serve through NextGen or marriage mentoring or Care and Compassion.
- When we walk across the street to take a meal or help a single parent with the chores around their house, we breathe life into them and into our faith.
