The Christians from previous generations had a grit to them. They endured persecution, hardships, and hatred. They sacrificed everything they had and everything they knew. Many were killed for their faith. Many were imprisoned. Here in Scotland, there is a tremendous Christian heritage with the Covenanters and others. Some 19,000 Covenanters lost their lives for the Gospel in and around Edinburgh. They met in secret in the Pentland Hills.
We don’t have to look very far to see some of those things on the rise again. In fact, the last century has seen more Christians killed for their faith than at any previous point in history combined.
May we sing with the previous generations, I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back!
