This week we celebrate Mother's Day in the U.K.
"Jumper, n.: garment worn by a child when its mother is feeling chilly." -Ambrose Bierce
A mother is a person who, seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie. —Tenneva Jordan
An ounce of mother is worth a pound of priest. – Rudyard Kipling
There are few things more powerful than the faithful prayers of a righteous mother. -Boyd K. Packer
Many years ago, a greeting card company offered free cards to inmates from a prison to send to mothers on Mother’s Day. Nearly all the prisoners took the offer and sent cards to their mothers. So the greeting card company was somewhat encouraged by the success and they decided that they would then make the same offer when Father’s Day came around. They offered free cards to send to fathers on Father’s Day, and they had very few takers.
There is something special about mums. Dads are great, but mums are superheroes.
