Friends, today is the day to move forward! We are looking at the faith of the Nation and not just one person. To move forward would take everyone’s faith working together to trust God. They saw what unbelief could do, now was the time for full faith in their God. The spies giving their report was the match needed to their petrol of faith. God was personally going to go with them, before them, and bring them victory.
Last week we looked at the courageous faith of Rahab in trusting God, Jehovah, unknown to her, to take over all of Canaan. She showed amazing faith putting everything on the line for the 2 spies. She and all her family were saved by their faith in the God of Israel and not faith in the scarlet rope.
After 40 years of wandering and waiting, God has spoken to Joshua and told him that it is now time to move forward. The memory of Egypt and seemingly endless wandering in the wilderness are over. They are now going to enter and possess the land promised to Abraham. 40 years prior, Joshua and Caleb had said, “Let us go at once to take the land for we are able to possess it.”( by faith in God) The people said, ‘we’re not able’ ( unbelief in God and only looking to their own ability) and lost 40 years, all dying in the wilderness in their unbelief.
