Description

In 2008, a Baby Jesus was stolen from First United Methodist Church’s Nativity in

Kittanning, Pennsylvania and replaced with a pumpkin and newspaper headline read,

‘Missing Jesus’. Even though many countries and people celebrate Christmas, they are

missing Jesus the whole time. It has become less and less about cherishing the birth of

Jesus, and more about gifts, trees, santa, and cheesy films. In the majority of homes

that celebrate Christmas, Jesus is missing. Some give no thought to what the idea of

Christmas even is. Sort of like celebrating President George Washington’s birthday

without even believing that he was real or ever even born. Jesus is missing. Not that He

is misplaced, but that He is missing from the hearts of men.

Jeremiah 29:12-14 Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will

listen to you. 13 You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your

heart. 14 I will be found by you,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will restore your fortunes and

will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you,’

declares the Lord, ‘and I will bring you back to the place from where I sent you into

exile.’

Today we are looking at Matthew chapter 2 and the birth of Jesus the Christ.
