Jesus had travelled far and wide across Israel healing and restoring many, but in our message today, a young man comes up to Him and leaves worse than when he came. This is rare because after encounters with Jesus, people were in much better condition. Some even brought back from the dead! He is known as the rich young ruler. He had tremendous potential. He is courteous and has spiritual questions that motivate him to run up to Jesus. He had everything going for him, but after this encounter, he is completely deflated. Many people wrongly believed then and still believe today that God will weigh your good and bad deeds, and if the good outweighs the bad, you will get into heaven.
