As Humans, we all have tendencies to forget things. As you get older, that tendency goes up a lot. We make grocery lists because we forget why we went to the shops, we make ourselves diary reminders, as we could forget things. Sometimes we enter a new room and forget why we went in there or to the first floor without remembering what it was that we were after. Have you ever seen where someone ties a string on their finger as a reminder? We can set alerts on our phones to help us remember, too. I recently went into the store and forgot what I was after…
The Bible speaks much about remembering things. (more than 200X) Joshua, as he led the people across the Jordan River, had the men take 12 stones to make a memorial there to honour what miraculous event God provided and to make memorials for future generations.
Joshua 4:6 This shall be a sign among you; when your children ask later, saying, ‘What do these stones mean to you?’ 7 then you shall say to them, ‘That the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord; when it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off.’ So these stones shall become a memorial to the sons of Israel forever.”
