In today's message, we are looking at the confrontation between the teenage boy, David, and the mighty warrior from Gath, Goliath.
Upon hearing his boast, David has righteous indignation that this man would dare to defy the army of God.
1 Samuel 17:26 Then David said to the men who were standing by him, “What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and rids Israel of the disgrace? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he has dared to defy the armies of the living God?” 27 The people answered him in agreement with this statement, saying, “This is what will be done for the man who kills him.”
David recognises that Goliath has defied the army of God. Israel had a history of overcoming insurmountable odds with God fighting on their behalf. They just had the Prophet Samuel with them recently and should have had faith in God. All the promises were known to them. God was their God. He has proved to Israel time and again that He is their living God that fights for them. He is our God, too, and He changes not! His promises are still kept today. We hope you are encouraged by this week's message.
