Often in our Christian walk, we forget that we are in a war. It is not a popular subject today. The hymns of the past usually had choruses like ‘Onward Christian soldiers, marching as to war. With the cross of Jesus going on before. Christ the royal Master leads against the foe; forward into battle See His banners go.’
The previous generations knew that following Christ would be constant battles. There is a real enemy that wants to steal, kill and destroy our lives, families, and everything that God is doing in us. He wants to rob our futures and have us live in fear.
Although God had given them the land, as soon as the Jordan was crossed, there were to be battles everywhere they went. May we not think that we don’t have to fight after coming to Christ. In fact the heat gets turned up and the attacks are unrelenting. Know this: we fight from victory, not for victory! Jesus has defeated every spiritual enemy. He defeated satan in the wilderness and at the cross. He also was victorious over death and has ascended to the right hand of God. “If God is for us, who can be against us?”
We are marching onward to take the land!
