Description

There were more than 300 prophecies concerning the arrival of the Messiah. When would He come? For 400 years, there is silence between the Old and New Testaments. When the New Testament begins, it starts with a genealogy. Some people love that stuff. A bit of a strange way to start a book.

Although most of us skip over this list of names, it is really important to show that Jesus was also a part of history and that everything prepared the way for His birth. God rules and overrules everything so that it comes into alignment for the purpose of bringing Jesus into the world.  The silence of 400 years is about to be broken by a fragile baby’s cry.

The sound that separates all history is the cry of a baby. This isn’t a battle cry of Rome being overthrown. There is no trumpet from the sky. This is a humble way to enter the world especially when you are the Creator of all things! A baby is quite helpless and vulnerable, but this is how God came in the flesh.
