Together with yesterday's labour force survey data,
Statistics South Africa put the spotlight on the domestic workers. Approximately 1.1 million South Africans are employed in private households and of these 854 000 are domestic workers who clean, cook, and care for children or the elderly. This is a group that is particularly vulnerable to a downturn in the economy.
