Description

One of the leading indicators of economic growth is new vehicle sales and the figures for August are encouraging. In June, the industry sold 38 030 new cars and commercial vehicles and exported 28 384. Thereafter, sales and exports declined due to the level 4 restriction and riots in KwaZulu-Natal. In July, sales were 32 949 units and 16 931 units were exported. In August, it improved to 41 425 units sold domestically and 19 446 units exported.
