DISCIPLINES THAT MADE JESUS VERY SUCCESSFUL
Sunday 5th February 2023 - second service
Let us look at the disciplines that made Jesus the most successful man in the bible;
1. THE WORD
2 Timothy 3:15 And that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
Many of us do not hear the voice of God because we do not read the Bible yet it is the word of God that is capable of making us wise because every area of our lives has been addressed in it.
Luke 4:16-17 So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His CUSTOM was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:
Jesus had a custom/tradition of reading the Holy scriptures. He was so saturated with the Word that when the devil tried to tempted Him, He responded with "it is written....." (Luke 4:1-13).
You can not overcome the devil with anointing and gifts but with the Word of God. You are as strong as the Word that is inside of you (Psalms 119:105).
Read Isaiah 7:14
What Jesus fed on developed His discerning ability to know what is wrong and right.
The accuracy you will have in your spirit and the ability to discern is dependent on the word that you have in your spirit (Matthew 4:4).
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
The word of God is what furnishes your life and brings everything you need for your life to be complete so that when the enemy comes, he finds a complete house and has no room (Matthew 12:43-44).
If you build your life on anything other than God's word, it will fail. The only thing(s) that will survive the storm are only those that have been built on the foundation of God's word.
That is why you must make up your mind to spend time reading God's Word and let it become the final authority in your life.
2. PRAYER
Luke 5:16 So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed.
Jesus was successful because He was a man of prayer.
Every spiritual activity is predicated on the platform of prayer. Therefore if you do not pray, you cheat yourself.
Acts 1:4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to WAIT for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me;
Acts 1:13-14 And when they had entered, they went up into the upper room where they were staying:....... These all continued with one accord in PRAYER and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.
Waiting on God in the place of prayer pays more than running around and being everywhere.
That is what always made Jesus successful and able to accomplish His ministry in the three and a half years.
It takes discipline to be a champion. Make up your mind to pray and read the word, program yourself and practice it continuously and watch what will happen to your life (Acts 6:4).
