GENUINE DESIRE FOR GOD
Wednesday 26th October 2022
2 Chronicles 16:9 For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of [those] whose heart [is] loyal to Him...
What is a loyal heart?
A heart that has aligned itself with the will and the purpose of God: one that is drawn to the Master and has God at the center of its activities; sold out to God for who He is not for what He can do for you.
Revelation 2:4 Nevertheless I have [this] against you, that you have left your first love.
Majority of the Christians have turned God into a supermarket where they go and shop for their needs and when it's all done, they turn back until a need arises again and they come back to God.
For many of us, our relationship with God is need-based and need-orientated. The genuine desire to fellowship with the Lord for who He is dwells in very few believers and this breaks the heart of the Master (God).
Acts 13:22 And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, [ 'I have found David]the [son] of Jesse, [ a man after My] [own] [ heart, who will do all My will.']
My brothers and sisters, this is the appeal of heaven to us; that the testimony that David bore concerning his heart towards God can be our testimony, that is to say, "a man after the heart of God" not after the hand of God.
But for the majority of us, our seeking is all about what can God do for us; we are using our relationship with God to meet our needs and not to enjoy the person of God.
I pray tonight that let there be a change in your heart. Will you still bless, worship, and honor Him if He doesn't do another miracle in your life? When all your needs and every desire you had has been met, will you still stay in His presence and commune with Him? Are you sold out to God for who He is or for what He can do in your life?
It is not wrong to align your heart with what God can do for you but that is a low-level relationship with Him. May the Holy Spirit move you from that low-class level of relationship and upgrade you to a place where you fellowship with the Master for who He is.
1 Corinthians 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit [who is] in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?
Of all creation of the entire universe and heaven, you are the only one who carries God: all the other heavenly creatures don't carry the presence of God because they were not made in the image of God.
That's the uniqueness within us: God has been able to find a place to reside and that's why your fellowship and communion with Him means everything to heaven.
You were created for His presence to enjoy Him and for Him to enjoy you (Genesis 3:8).
That is why a man will never find enjoyment in anything else except the creator: creation will never give you the pleasure that God can give you.
Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
When you upgrade your relationship with God and your prayer begins to be more of fellowship, thanksgiving, and celebration than of calling on Him for things, when God becomes the center of your prayer and worship, as you lift Him with your words, thoughts, imagination, and feelings, and place Him where He needs and ought to be, all the healing, deliverance, etc are simply a product of that beautiful communion.
Genesis 3:8 And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.
Prayer was never designed for needs because needs came after the fall of man but was designed for us to interact and fellowship with God and this remains the primary purpose for prayer.
That's why when Jesus was teaching the disciples He said;
In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Matthew 6:9
