SPEAK THE WORD

Sunday 5th October 2025

Proverbs 18:20-21 A man's stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; [From] the produce of his lips he shall be filled. Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

God didn't give us the tongue for tasting food but for creating what we want to see by speaking. When He stepped on the scene in Genesis 1, everything was upside down: chaos and darkness had invaded the world, and the Holy Spirit was moving, but nothing was happening. He then began to speak, "Let there be..." and as He did, the Holy Spirit manifested it.

God spoke to show us the pattern of how to respond to situations when things aren't going well in life. It is by faith that we speak forth what we want to see. No matter the movement or strength of the anointing, if you do not say what you want to see, it will not manifest. (Hebrews 11:3)

When we speak, the word we speak is a seed for what we want to manifest. Jesus, in the parable of the sower in Luke 8:11, made it clear that the seed is the Word of God, and while the earth remains, seedtime and harvest time will not cease (Genesis 8:22). Therefore, every time you speak the Word, you sow a seed.

Jeremiah, in Jeremiah 1:5-9, attached the call of God on his life to speaking, and we later see in verse 9 God putting His words in his mouth. Whatever harvest we want in life demands us to not only speak but to speak the right words. The problem with many believers is that they aren't consistent with speaking right, hence ending up not receiving anything because they are double-minded, as stated in James 1:7. If you don't like the harvest, then you must change the seed.

All that is happening in your life, what do you see? The things that we want to see are already there, but just haven't manifested in the physical realm. It is for that reason that we need to sustain our confession of the Word, knowing that He who promised us is faithful. That is how we lay hold of whatever God has called us to do. 1 Timothy 6:12

Unlike in the Old Testament, where people used to fight with tangible weapons, in the New Testament, words are our weapons: we uproot, pull down, destroy, build, and plant with our words.

God is waiting for you to speak so that He may do that which you have spoken. Speak the right word (the Word), and sustain your confession because that is how we change our lives.
