THE MERCIES AND GRACE OF GOD
Thursday 5th October 2023
As we continue to seek the face of the Master, I want to draw your attention to God's mercy, grace, and faithfulness.
God's dealing with man is founded on His love, mercy, and compassion. Right from day one when man sinned, God never gave up on him because of His compassion, loving kindness, and mercy. His mercy went after them, substituted their leaves, and clothed them with leather. ( Gen 3:21).
Exodus 34:6-7 And the LORD passed before him and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth,...
When God appeared before Moses, He introduced Himself as a gracious and merciful God full of compassion and loving-kindness. He realized that He was dealing with a man whose framework has been corrupted and therefore His approach to him is ever by mercy with grace and compassion.
As we have an understanding of the mercies of God, it purges any form of pride that can rise inside us because you will know God's dealing with us is purely based on His love, grace, and mercy.
Ecclesiastes 10:8(AMPC) He that diggeth a pit, thereinto, may fall, and, he that breaketh through a hedge, there may bite him a serpent.
When we go beyond the boundaries that God permits us to, we will be hurt so we begin to look at the laws, instructions, and commandments that God gives us as His mercy extended to us to preserve our lives not Him trying to limit our liberty.
Luke 18:10-13 "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.'..
Though the Pharisee had fasted, all the fasting was going nowhere because it was coming from a place of arrogance and works, not as a means of grace that God has provided for us to access Him.
Every time we practice these spiritual activities with the wrong heart, they yield nothing. We relate with God based on His grace, mercy, and love.
Psalms 123:2 Behold, as the eyes of servants [look] to the hand of their masters, As the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, So our eyes [look] to the LORD our God, Until He has mercy on us.
David said we look to God such that we are sustained and protected by His mercy. It is His mercy that dresses, clothes, and keeps us alive, that is why the scripture says come before the throne of grace that you may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)
Every time God answers a man it comes in two forms; Mercy and Grace.
2 Chronicles 20:12‐22 O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes [are] upon You."...
[21] And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the LORD, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying: "Praise the LORD, For His mercy [endures] forever."
They provoked the mercies of God by singing, 'God You are good and Your mercy endures forever'. None of them lifted a single weapon but God descended and fought their battles. The enemies destroyed themselves and the Israelites spent three days collecting spoil because God manifested His grace and mercy.
Psalms 143:12 In Your mercy cut off my enemies, And destroy all those who afflict my soul; For I [am] Your servant.
The mercies of God can deal with your enemies negatively and with you positively.
STAY BLESSED AND HIGHLY FAVORED, WE LOVE YOU. PASTOR BEN OCHOLA.
