Welcome to episode 12 of The Polaroid Podcast! Whether you’re new or old, welcome aboard. Today’s episode is dedicated to our fallen classmate and friend Eric. Rest In Peace brother 🖤. I was able to get my great friend and one of my favorite artists Jack McGranaghan on ~The Pod~. Newly 20 years old( as of a few days ago), Jack is wise and talented far beyond his years. Born in Derry , Northern Ireland, McGranaghan moved to America when he was only 4. He took it surprisingly well for his age, until the other kids in school started to call attention to his accent. From there he started to learn the differences between Irish and American culture, picking bits from each to further explore. When Jack was around 12, he made a YouTube channel dedicated to sneaker culture. “NYkicks” was McGranaghan’s brainchild and at one point ballooned to 20 thousand subscribers. The attention was not cheap, as Jack recalls mean comments and internet trolls. Though the shoe interest has waned, Jack kept the channel and started posting his own music. A ‘Jack’ of all trades, McGranaghan plays various instruments, produces his own music, raps, and sings. Though his musical influences range from The Beatles and Nirvana to Travis Scott and JID, Jack sounds... like Jack. His music is full of emotion and finesse, and he’s released 2 projects and a slew of singles. Within 16 Months, Jack had put out his first project, performed live( mostly through his school, Ithaca College) and even competed in a showcase that ,had he won, would’ve let him open for Smino. He’s in his bag folks ! Get comfortable in your favorite chair and listen to Jack and I converse about his life, his music and everything in between.
