The Story of the Bible could be bookended by the simple phrase: "Take and eat!"—from the original temptation in the garden to the sweeping invitation as Jesus proclaims, "It is finished," on the cross. God's vision for His people has always centered around a table where humans gather and belong, sharing meals that serve as leveling spaces where we experience what we have in common. These moments of abundant provision also become declarations of dependence. At the communion table, we embody God's intention for His people to live as family, united by grace and common identity. This sacred meal becomes both our posture of belonging and an invitation for others to belong. Through communion, we confess what undermines our humanity—our tendency toward independence and indulgence—while professing what restores us: our dependence on God and trust in His grace.
