Description

Dr. Phyllis Yes never imagined that there would be a movie based on her life story. She’s a Portland based artist who wrote a play about what it was like caring for her elderly parents from afar, and the uncomfortable family dynamics around end-of-life issues. The play, Good Morning Miss America, resonated with audiences across the country and is about to be made into a movie starring Ed Asner.
Dr. Yes is a name that she chose for herself after she earned her PhD in Philosophy in Art Education from UO in 1978. She’s an accomplished visual artist who is best known for her work feminizing masculine objects (links below), and she spent 20 years teaching art at Lewis & Clark, mentoring the next generation of artists.
Associate Director of Development at UO, Ayasha Benninghoven, will be conducting the interview.
