Description

This week we watch a Portrait of a Lady on Fire, a french film written and directed by Céline Sciamma. Set in France in the late eighteenth century the film tells the story of a forbidden romance between an aristocrat and a painter commissioned to paint her portrait.

As evidence from the film's many accolades this is an absolutely beautiful experience.

A wonderfully acted romance that is elevated by the incredible performances and gorgeous cinematography.

A deeply layered story with themes that transcend the era that it's being told in.

Celine delivers an experience that is almost voyeuristic because you become immediately lost in the characters world.

Portrait of a Lady on Fire is one of those rare films that shows you how cinema can truly reflect some of the deepest human emotions.

This film is an example of a foreign Masterpiece that can be enjoyed as long as one is willing to read to enjoy a film.
