Colorado state law will allow vehicles to remain started while unattended, ONLY on private property. As winter weather persists, drivers are encouraged to start and warm cars while the vehicle remains locked, or while in the vehicle. A recent report of a vehicle theft lends Granada Police Department Chief David Dougherty to send a precautionary warning. Area patrons are encouraged to call in suspicious activity related to auto theft to their local authorities.
