Paul and Glenn are back for another entertaining episode. This week we will be discussing some of the selfless acts by sportspeople from over years. It may be a great act of sportsmanship or a tremendous sacrifice one has made for another. Some of what will be discussed include:
- Jack Twyman becoming the legal guardian of former teammate Maurice Stokes after Stokes was left paralyzed following a head injury sustained in a NBA game.
- Cricket players involved in World Series Cricket eg, Tony Greig, Ian and Greg Chappell and Dennis Lillee, Rod Marsh. Sacrificing their test careers in order to obtain better pay and conditions for players.
- A former American tennis player known for powerful serve and for once sacrificing a match point and the match in a big tournament when he admitted his opponents shot had gone in and had the point changed.
- An accomplished English actor with a great love for adventure and mountain climbing who gave up the chance to climb Mt Everest to turn back and help another climber. He also has increased the public’s awareness of heart failure.
- Katie Moon and Nina Kennedy
- Terry Fox, Lutz Long
- Sportspeople who have set up their own foundations to help those in need.
- Mutaz Essa Barshim and Cedric Dubler at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
- Cecil Healy and Duke Kahanamoku
- Gilbert Arenas
- Robbie Fowler
- Judy Guiness
- Abel Mutai
- The Bento and Maryville American College football teams.
- Byron Leftwich
- JJ Watts
We have our Claps and Slaps for the week and our Quiz. We also have our segments Who Am I? and Where Are They Now?, and Glenn finishes off the show with another cracking joke.
