Description

Today's Scripture: John 10:22-42 ESV

“I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.” (John 10:9)

Main Idea: Jesus calls us into the kind of oneness with God He enjoys.

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” (John 10:27)

I. True sheep have moved from pride to humble submission to the Shepherd’s voice.

“…you do not believe because you are not among my sheep.” (John 10:26)

II. True sheep abandon their way to follow the Shepherd.

The bottom line is this: Jesus calls us into the kind of oneness with God He enjoys. This is the nature of Christianity. It is not judicial, but the judicial, Jesus’ atoning work in our place to satisfy the wrath of God toward sin, and His act of fulfilling the righteous requirements of God’s law are the springboard into relationship with the living God who created us to be satisfied only by loving relationship with Him!

“I and the Father are one.” (John 10:30)

“For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin. Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus ” (Romans 6:5-11)

“The triune God came for more than making us right with Him. He came to make us one with Him. He came for more than cleaning us up and making us right. He came to marry us and make us His. He came for more than making a way to what we want. He came to make a way for us to want Him most.” Voskamp, Ann. WayMaker
