Hey, today I want to talk about Bandcamp, what it is and should you sign up for your affiliate business, the fees involved and how it can help you. Bandcamp is an online music company that was founded in my home town of Oakland CA. I grew right next to Oakland in Castro Valley and Alameda.
I know what you might be thinking if it's a music company why would you sign up for it if you are an affiliate marketer? By now, you probably now I'm a lazy affiliate marketer and I want to take one peace of content and stick that thing everywhere. Anchor.FM is a free podcasting platform that I've gotten a lot of success from and Bandcamp allows you to upload your Podcast to as well.
Plus it carries the ultimate price of being free. Soundcloud is another podcasting platform, but it's not really free. How can this help you make money? You can create a podcast on a certain topic when people find it and listen to it you then can mention a website and if they go to and buy something, you are going to get paid.
It's another way to market your business. What I usually do is write a short article, that goes after a keyword that gets lots of traffic, but not a lot of competition.
Then I will create a video based on that article. Then I will use a program called Any Video Converter to take the sound from the video into an MP3 file and upload it to Anchor.Fm. Bandcamp doesn't take an MP3 file, so you have to use something else like WAVE.
Bandcamp is free from Artists and the company makes their money from revenue sharing on a sale, which is 15% for digital and 10% for merch. There is a pro version for artists which is $10 a month and that just gives you more perks such as more stats, targeted messages, batch uploads and more.
You can charge for your podcast, but I don't think that is a good idea. I'm using the podcast, article, video and I even create e-books that I give away for free to build a relationship to get someone on my optin page.
The optin page captures their email address where you can continue to build a relationship with someone.
Remember, people don't usually buy the first time. I'll compare it to Gary Vee's business model who is one of the most successful internet marketers. What Gary does is create all kinds of free content and then when he writes a book he can charge for it, because most people already know who he is.
With me, what I'll do is write an ebook, or podcast, video give it away for free and then send use that content to send someone to an offer. I hope that makes sense.
Another tip when it comes to album art and I got this from an ebook seller who is very successful when ever you can put a picture of your face on the cover.
He says it helps sale his ebooks and I believe that because we gravitate towards faces, just look at Facebook. If you have a picture of an egg like in Twitter, people think it's bullshit. Another tip for you is on all your social media accounts you could consider using the same picture and this brands you.
When someone sees the picture they automatically recognize you. The last tip I have for you when using Bandcamp is itβs not always the best-selling album that pops up in the search, but rather the album that is the best selling within the proper tags.
To help you with tags I use an app called Display purposes. You can put in one keyword and it gives you 30 other keywords, just like it.
