John the Baptist is the one who kicks off the Advent and Christmas seasons. He reminds us that we each must come to Christ on our own and that no one gets a special pass because of the faithfulness of their parents and grandparents. Plus everyone of us has a responsibility to give generously to those in need and to mentor those who are coming up behind us.
