The mercies of God are never presented in the manner which we expect. On the day of Pentecost, people were gathered from every corner, not in anticipation of what God was preparing to do at that moment, but out of obligation, custom and age old traditions that had very little to do with the events that transpired weeks earlier on a hill in Jerusalem, called “Calvary”. … The Gospel’s narrative began in the surrounding cities and towns, but God would soon use the moment to proclaim the power of his word the world, … not at the hands of those educated in the finest institutions or the great theologians of the day, but rather by a devoted troop of fishermen and tax collectors assembled for a particular purpose, … spreading the word to all mankind.
