There was no human initiative whatsoever in Mary’s conception. Mary’s conception was a God-thing; it was God initiated – pure and simple. Thus, the Virgin Birth is a sign of God’s saving grace; a sign that our salvation is by God’s grace alone – not by anything that we do.
