Ashlee, Emilio, and Julius discuss the case of “A Ladylike Hand”. They talk about artwork, particular stylistic properties, and gender stereotypes. Emphasis was focused on how the society’s perspective changed after acknowledging an Artwork was created by a female or by a male and the different criticism that was expressed to artists when something was believed to be done by a man when actuality was done by a woman. The critics depict what a woman's capability in artwork could do. We discussed how unfair treatment toward women’s ability in art or any artistic area such as music or literature was expressed with such harsh criticism, such as what happened to Judith Leyster and the backlash she received when compared to Frans Hals’s work.
