I WAS STRANDED
Race day
My first ever half ironman
Mile 20 out of 56 miles
Im hauling ass on my mountain bike thats not even a triathlon bike
I feel my bike slowly down dramatically
I saw other bikers going past me more and more
Then I felt a tug in the front of the bike and almost fell off
“What the fuck”
I had a flat tire not even after 1 lap of the 2 laps of 28 miles.
I rode 8 miles with a flat tire on that bike….
The wind was pushing me more and more with that Montauk breeze
But one thing I said to myself the entire time
“There is NO fucking way im not finishing this race”
I NEEDED to finish it.
I rode to the repair station
They fixed up my bike 15 minutes later and I finished the course.
But some of us quit when times get hard
When the flat fire happenes
When we don’t lose the weight we want
When we get into slump on the plate
When we stop playing sports and gain a bunch of weight
We think its over.
That first 20 miles was all I was meant to do.
FUCK THAT. You have more in you and you know IT.
So the difference between me and you right now is that I DON’T HAVE A CHOICE BUT TO BE SUCCESSFUL.
There is no option but to be successful…There is no option but to finish the race
So stop giving yourself an out for this.
Thats what’s been keeping you stuck…
You need to start your race..not only that
But FUCKING finish it…no mater WHAT the circumstance..if you gotta run, walk, crawl
Get to the finish line.
LFG!!
