THE BIGGEST LESSON SPORTS TAUGH ME
I was 1 point away from winning
Triple overtime
Next point wins
Ref blows the whistle
I try to keep my opponent down, he gets a hold of me and pins me in the last 10 seconds of the match
My coaches were pissed, I was pissed off
I felt like I let my school down, i let my coaches down,
I felt embarrassed, just being one point away from wining and giving up a Pin.
But what I realized that next day was THAT NEEDED TO HAPPEN TO ME
I needed to feel what failure was like at that moment.
I needed to know how it felt to be so close but yet so far.
Cause life will give you a 360 and you gotta be able to deal with that.
It taught me that YOU NEVER LET YOUR GUARD DOWN.
You never alllow yourself to get satisfied until the job is done.
After that match I had a hunger in me
I took that over to the next year where every time I was in over time I NEVER GAVE UP.
I never gave in.
Same lesson has transferred over to myfitness. I NEVER just sit there and stay complacent.
I’m thinking about the next move. I’m thinking about how I can get better next time.
This helped me go from wrestling to rugby to triathlons to bodybuilding shows.
IM JUST A REGULAR DUDE!
But there difference between you and me is that you keep chilling.
Ex-athletes I realize you’ve been struggling with staying consistent on your fitness
You wanna lose those 10lbs but every time you get close you go back to your old habits
YOU CAN’T LET YOUR GUARD DOWN.
You need to keep it up.
YOU CAN’T GET COMPLACENT.
FINISH THE FUCKING JOB.
You don’t win a fucking game unless your FINISH IT.
It’s about the journey but the journey needs to be finished to fully enjoy it.
So ex-athletes FOLLOW THROUGH with your goals.
Cause once you reach that goal you”ll want another one, and another one.
AND THATS where the beast is unlocked.
