Joshua 5 is the last chapter before Israel begins the conquest and invasion of Jericho. God’s timing is very surprising. After crossing the Jordan, Israel does not move immediately to Jericho. Instead, they are commanded to wait and prepare. Joshua also received an unsettling encounter with the Commander, who is neither for him or against him.
