This week Marcella interviewed Tammie Velasquez, a Latina who grew up in Southern California and currently lives in New York, working in Student Affairs for the City University of New York. Similar to Marcella, Tammie attended private school for most of her life until college. As the oldest daughter in a traditional Mexican American family she discusses the challenges of pursuing higher education and her dreams while remaining close to her family and balancing their own expectations of her.
