Manuel is a group leader and researcher in the cluster Policy Analysis and Environmental Governance (PEGO) at the Department of Environmental Social Sciences at Eawag, and an adjunct professor (Titularprofessor) at the Institute of Political Science, University of Bern. He received his habilitation in 2017 from the University of Bern and his PhD in 2011 from the University of Geneva. His research analyses governance arrangements, decision-making processes and political networks focusing on water and environmental issues.

Manuel es líder de grupo e investigador en el clúster de Análisis de Políticas y Gobernanza Ambiental (PEGO) en el Departamento de Ciencias Sociales Ambientales de Eawag, y profesor adjunto (titular) en el Instituto de Ciencias Políticas de la Universidad de Berna. Recibió su habilitación en 2017 de la Universidad de Berna y su doctorado en 2011 de la Universidad de Ginebra. Su investigación analiza los arreglos de gobernanza, los procesos de toma de decisiones y las redes políticas centradas en cuestiones hídricas y ambientales.
