YOU ARE THE LIGHT 💡 OF THE WORLD🌍

Text: Matthew 5:14-16. KJV
"You are the light of the world.
A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 "Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
16 "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

THOUGHT CODE: "The presence of Light dispels darkness"
The man who carries a lantern in a dark night can have friends all around him, walking safely by the help of its rays, and he not defrauded. So he who has the God-given. He can help on many others in this world's darkness, not to his own loss, but to their precious gain.
The mystery about light is that it shines brighter in darkness. Light is of no use where there is no darkness that is why the presence of Light dispels darkness so it can shine. Stop complaining about the darkness around you and start taking responsibility for the absence of light.
Isaiah 60:1-3 NIV puts it this way,
“Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.
2 See, darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the Lord rises upon you
and his glory appears over you.
3 Nations will come to your light,
and kings to the brightness of your dawn.
We have been beckoned upon to shine our lights so as to eliminate darkness but what is the benefit of light if it's not shinning?
Light commands influence, dispels darkness and causes things to grow and flourish.
As children of Light, we are to;
1) Influence our community positively with the light of God,
2) Affect our nation with godly attitudes and character and
3)Cause dead things to come alive under our watch.
It's our responsibility to dispel any form of darkness be it Spiritually, economically, politically, socially and in every ramifications.
The climax of our topic today is stated in Vs.16;
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and *glorify* your Father in heaven."-Matthew 5:16.
The product of God's Light in us must glorify God.
We should not adopt double standard living- A believer in church on sunday and an unbeliever in the world from Monday to Saturday.
Do not cut corners at work and pick up your bible to evangelize.The greatest form of evangelism is not preaching but having a livestyle as Jesus.
It was not the preaching or crusade that termed the believers in Antioch but the livestyle they lived that gave them the name 'Christians'-meaning Christ-like (Acts 11:26). Their light was shinning through their purity, character, integrity, faithfulness, transparency and sincererity to whatever they did. They saw something in Jesus that reflected on them and the gospel spread like wildfire.
COUNSEL: whatever that will not glorify God this year, must be done away with so that we can make great impact in our society and lead others to the knowledge of the truth.
PRAYER CODE- Dear Lord, let your light in me begin to affect my life and influence my society positively to the glory of your name in Jesus name. (Amen)
