We begin class with a discussion of how the next few weeks will unfold -- we'll spend about three weeks on the novel, and then we'll turn to the final paper. Then we discuss the Prologue of Orange's book, thinking in particular about the symbol of the "Indian Head" and Orange's claims about the city and its relation to Native identity.
