The origin of the “N” word is steeped in deep rooted bigotry, hatred and pain for people primarily African Americans. The word was used to demoralize and demean a segment of the population that had been deemed unfit, inhuman and classless. In the post slavery era and moving into a season of civil rights activism the word was considered inappropriate for use by all people but slowly we have seen the word integrate back into mainstream society. The media and arts have made it socially acceptable to float this word around in everyday conversations but is it truly acceptable to do so?
