We learn from her that we can be grateful for things that are also not working, and that gratitude and grief can live at the same time. It’s far from toxic positivity, but one can go through grief during a challenging time and still find something that one can be grateful for. Her advice is to start practicing TODAY, when things are going great or not great, and build the practice over time. Her own traumatic experiences and how she coped with them truly show the power of being grateful, everyday, even or more so when it hurts.
