This week we sit down with Year 6 teacher Mr Fiachra Mcardle. Originally from Dundalk, Ireland, Mr McArdle signed a professional football contract with Derby Country when they were in the English Premier League.
After dropping through the leagues and plying his trade in the semi-professional leagues around London, Mr McArdle now has the joy of playing for Hong Kong Football Club. All the time he was playing semi-professional football he has been a teacher as well.
This episode is a fantastic listen for our budding young athletes. Many young people say they want to go on and play professional football but so few ever make it anywhere near the level Mr Mcardle did. He is a very humble man who reflects on his journey in professional sport with a great perspective on his abilities as a player. Not an episode to be missed!
