Description

One of our favorite sayings is, "life begins at the end of your comfot zone."  Getting out of your comfort zone does not, however, come naturally!  It's scary, and foreign, and challenging in so many different ways. Preparing is essential and most of us are pretty good at acquiring new skills (with the right motivation). But the fear factor is something else; sometimes, we are literally paralyzed by fear. How do you overcome this immobilizing force?  Or are only the fearless destined to achieve certain things?

Of course they aren't!  In fact, some of the people who choose to do the scariest things readily admit to how scared they are - and know exactly how to effectievly use and control that fear.  Understanding what's happening in our brain - from the resource-hijcaking emotional center and survival-intent amygdala to the rational, logical prowess of the exectuive function - helps us to harness and control fear.  So we can use the energy and alertness it induces, without it becoming an insurmountable obstacle that prevents us from doing the things we want to do.  So listen in to hear a story of jungle treks and a mountain climb to the top of the most exotic of the seven summits, and how the learnings and experiences of that can help you face your own fears, whatever they are.
