Description

David had conquered armies, subdued countries and intimidated kings and rulers. But his one desire was that to build a “house of God”, a temple that would have been majestic and unique in its beauty.

In 1 Kings 1 we see David’s life/reign coming to an end, we see a fragile King, no more fighting, no more running or singing or dancing but an old man lying in his bed.God had denied David to build such a house, instead SOLOMON was chosen to do such a task as he was going to be the next King of Israel.

How did David hold on to hope until the end?

  1.  David had the CONFIDENCE that God is in control
  2.  David immediately acted on the enemy  “this very day”
  3.  David set aside self-interest (pride and vulnerability)
  4.  David protect God’s promises in his heart

Don’t limit God and don’t never out rule yourself and don’t settle for half promises! There are no expiry dates on God’s promises!
