On this episode of the Pawareness Podcast, we welcome Laura Sinclair, Volunteer Fundraiser for the International Dog Rescue, a non-profit organization based in the UK and Romania that helps dogs abroad, working with public and kill shelters to rescue dogs out and relocate them to better living conditions. Laura details how the former dictatorship in Romania has negatively impacted animal welfare in the country, how Romanian kill shelters operate, and what their rescue process looks like. She also talks about International Dog Rescue’s future plans for building their own shelter and whether or not it’s possible to adopt a dog from Romania to the US.
“We need volunteers, we need donations, and there’s just always resources that are needed until this situation is resolved. The stray dog population has decreased in Romania but there’s still quite a long way to go, it’s still in the hundreds of thousands.”
- Laura Sinclair
